Catchphrase and Talent Show!

We had another great virtual session tonight, a few new faces which is very good!

Tonight, we played catchphrase (say what you see, fingers on buzzers!) Mr Chip made several appearances throughout the night and stumped us for a few of the answers.

Second part of the evening we held a talent show; acts ranging from a magic show, Rubik’s cube solving, making a chicken from a tea towel, some very punny jokes and a great performance from the self-proclaimed "Mr Talent".

Ending the night with what I can only see being the online favourite, scavenger hunt, and discussing what we would like to get up to next week!

We are still not sure when we will be able to return to face to face meetings but it’s great to be able to see everyone’s faces and have a bit of fun, same time next week, come join us!

Last night a few of the scout section members held our first virtual session!

As expected there were some technical issues to overcome and a bit of audio interference, but at least we now know what to do for next time!

We took part in a scavenger hunt; naming random objects, the race was on for each person present to dash around their homes and be the first to return with the item requested.

There was some controversy in the "something you have had since you were young" round as the teaspoon from the aptly named "find a teaspoon" round, made a speedy second appearance!

We also had a quick scouting quiz to make sure we still remember key bits of information about scouting and there was even a couple of questions regarding VE Day, as today marks the 75th anniversary of the unconditional surrender of the Germany army during WW2, i was humbled to know that everyone present knew the meaning of VE Day and why it is important.

All who attended the virtual meeting had a nice catch up and a bit of fun.

Whilst discussing what if and what they would like to do next time it appears a talent show is set to be on the cards which should prove entertaining if nothing else

We’ll be sure to let you know how it goes!

We know the coming days and weeks are going to be difficult for families, as the spread of Covid-19 has caused schools to close. As the experts in developing skills and bringing adventure to young people, The Scouts want to do what we can to help.

While we normally love the great outdoors, we've pulled together some inspired indoor activity ideas (if we do say so ourselves). Keep your kids learning new skills and having fun (and avoid hearing "I'm bored" every 30 seconds) all in #TheGreatIndoors. You can find activities suitable for your child by clicking here

You could also help your child complete an Activity badge. Once you've completed all the requirements, why not upload evidence such as photos to OSM, in the 'Badges' section, select the badge and tap "Complete at Home" to show your section leader what you've done. There are links to our OSM home page and the activity badges pages below:
